You will receive One established Plant such as the potted ones pictured, Standard Trade 1 Gallon Nursery pot size.
There’s something so beautiful about Japanese Holly Fern (Cyrtomium falcatum)! Unlike the delicate, feathery foliage of most ferns, this unusual variety has thick, glossy, deep green leaves that almost look like they belong on a tropical holly plant. Its gracefully arching fronds create a lush, sculptural appearance that brings a little bit of that enchanted woodland feeling to any shady corner of the garden. We especially love how beautifully it contrasts with finer-textured ferns, hostas, and flowering shade plants. It’s also surprisingly tough! Once established, Japanese Holly Fern is wonderfully low maintenance, tolerates deep shade, and is seldom bothered by deer or rabbits. Whether tucked beneath trees, planted along a shaded pathway, or displayed in a decorative container, this is one of those timeless foliage plants that makes a garden feel instantly more established and inviting.
* USDA Zones: 7–10
* Mature Size: 18–24 inches tall, spreading 2–3 feet wide
* Sun Exposure: Partial shade to full shade
* Foliage: Thick, glossy, deep green, holly-shaped leaflets
* Seasonal Interest: Evergreen in mild climates, providing year-round greenery
* Water Needs: Moderate; prefers consistently moist, well-draining soil
* Growth Habit: Graceful, arching, clump-forming fern
* Special Features: Shade tolerant, deer and rabbit resistant, excellent for woodland gardens and containers
If you’re looking to transform a shady space into a lush, peaceful garden retreat, Japanese Holly Fern is an absolutely lovely place to start!

🌿 SHIPPING & PACKAGING
All plants are grown at our ranch in Santa Cruz County, California and carefully selected and prepared for shipment by Warlock Gardens.
Plants may be shipped without nursery pots to reduce shipping weight, prevent damage, and keep shipping costs reasonable. The root ball and growing medium will remain intact and will be securely wrapped and sealed to retain moisture and prevent soil from spilling during transit.
We do not ship to Hawaii or Pureto Rico.
Unless otherwise stated in the individual listing, plants are shipped via UPS 2 Day Air to minimize the amount of time your plant spends in transit.
🌱 LIVE PLANT DISCLAIMER
Every plant is a living, naturally grown specimen. The plant you receive may vary slightly from listing photographs in height, fullness, branching, leaf size, coloration, flower count, or growth habit.
Listing photographs are intended to accurately represent the variety and general size/quality of the plants being offered, but no two plants are exactly alike.
📦 TRANSIT & ARRIVAL
We take great care when packaging our plants, but shipping is naturally stressful for living material. Temporary wilting, leaf drop, bent leaves, minor cosmetic damage, or some yellowing can occasionally occur during transit.
Most plants recover quickly after being unpacked, watered as needed, and allowed to acclimate to their new environment.
Please unpack your plant promptly after delivery.
📸 DAMAGE OR PROBLEMS ON ARRIVAL
We want your plants to arrive healthy and as described.
If there is any problems with your order, please contact us within 24 hours of delivery and include clear photographs of:
* The plant
* The packaging
* The shipping box
* Any visible damage
Please contact us before discarding, pruning, repotting, or otherwise substantially altering the plant, as we may need photographs of its condition upon arrival in order to evaluate the issue.
Minor cosmetic shipping damage, temporary wilting, small amounts of leaf loss, soil displacement, or normal transplant/shipping stress are not considered significant damage.
🪴 AFTER DELIVERY
Once a live plant has been delivered, its continued health depends on many conditions outside of our control, including watering, soil, climate, temperature, light, planting technique, fertilizer, pests, and general care.
For this reason, we cannot guarantee the long-term survival or performance of plants after they have been received and cared for by the buyer.
Please research the growing requirements of the variety you are purchasing and make sure it is appropriate for your climate and intended growing conditions.
🏡 SHIPPING ADDRESS
Please verify your shipping address before placing your order.
Buyers are responsible for providing a complete and accurate delivery address. We cannot guarantee replacement or reimbursement for plants that are delayed, returned, lost, or damaged because an incorrect or incomplete address was provided at checkout.
Please also make arrangements to retrieve your package promptly after delivery. Plants left outdoors, in parcel lockers, mailrooms, or other uncontrolled environments after confirmed delivery may be exposed to damaging temperatures or conditions.
↩️ RETURNS & CANCELLATIONS
If your plant arrives with a significant issue, please contact us within the arrival window described above so we can review the situation and work towards a replacement specimen or a credit towards future specimens.
Cancellation requests should be submitted as quickly as possible. Orders that have already been packaged, processed, or transferred to the shipping carrier may no longer be eligible for cancellation.
Because plants are living and perishable products, we generally do not accept returns of live plants.
